oldyarns. is a designer collection of vintage & reclaimed textiles woven with stories: 'of yarn & of old'. using found & salvaged fabrics from various origins - eg French grain sacks, American flour bags & feed sacks, WWII military canvas - and made by hand here in Brisbane, these are re-purposed into a range of bags & home wares. in finding a new function for these reclaimed textiles, it is a way of retelling the stories & adventures of those who used them before, of perpetuating their journey. the unique characteristics & imperfections of these textiles are deliberately incorporated into each piece: hand stitched patching by a WWII soldier to a military tent, the family monogram on a French linen grain sack - these all highlight the remarkable survival stories of these materials.
