Jenny Spring website: http://www.bragbags.com.au blog: http://facebook.com/bragbagsaustralia bio: bragbags was created in 2003 in Western Australia by Jenny Spring. Jenny and her team design their products in Australia, and have them handcrafted in Vietnam. The products are created in small workshops, many in country regions, allowing the employees there an opportunity to earn an income and remain in their local village. bragbags celebrates the artisan crafts that are found throughout Vietnam. The hand embroidery is a 700 year old craft, handed down through generations. Using variegated silk threads, the embroiderers are highly skilled and have been developing this skill over many years. Most of the silk that is used is grown, loomed and hand-dyed in Vietnam. bragbags utilizes buffalo and cow horn as embellishment and details in their handbags, jewellery and gift line. The horn is a sustainable product, collected in animal friendly conditions, and then heated and carved to form intricate designs. Horn carving, again is a craft conducted in the villages. Their products are created by highly skilled and talented people who are paid a fair wage for their labour. bragbags endeavours to continue the celebration of their craft by providing these products to the world. |
