About
I Love it when my hands are in clay. I've loved it since I was a little girl playing away in my Nanna's potting studio, making ceramic nests and bowls with hearts on them... anything I could dream up, I would create...... looks like nothing has changed! I'm all grown up now (kind of). I work mostly with porcelain and stoneware, fixated on tiny detail and typewriter font! I pulled apart a vintage remmington typewriter just for the keys. Each piece in the shop has been handmade and cradled through many many processes. I have a small kiln called 'Hudini' and fire in small batches. I want to restore the balance of unique items far from the mass produced, commercial, consumer trade that surrounds us and encourages us to be mindless. I want us to see beauty in uneven form (there's nothing more boring than a perfectly round dinner plate). So high in the mountains I sit, humming to great tunes, my hands in clay creating conscious pottery. With lots of tea and fresh mountain air, I may be making something for you right now. Behind the scenes
Hands in clay! Thats where they are most days. I make everything by hand, starting out with a lump of clay and through many many processes, turning it into something with heart and soul. Low wastage and recycling is key for my small business. Even down to the way I set up my market stalls, all second hand and upcycled materials. Packaging is simple, recycled where possible and super stylish (if you go for that recycled funky look!). Each piece I make with total passion. I love the idea of filling my home with unique, quality things that have so much 'good energy' put into them as opposed to mass produced items devoid of personality or attention to detail! From time to time my fellow potting friends and even my husband also occupy the studio and spin a bowl on the wheel or make themselves something special. I love sharing the space and giving others a place to create.
