Hier Apparel by Laura Good is a Minneapolis, MN based women's apparel and accessory label founded in 2007. I'm self taught and my work is always evolving. I draw inspiration from my imagination and experiences, as well as the past and the past's perception of the future. My designs are modern and minimal, but rooted in an appreciation for organic geometry and it's ever present reflection in modern culture and urban infrastructure. I focus on everyday wearable garments with simple shapes and unexpected details. Hier Apparel is derived from hier, a Greek prefix meaning sacred and stands to magnify the elemental qualities in everything and offers a response to our culture's attempts toward the separation of humans and nature.
Behind the scenes
Hier Apparel is a one woman business. Everything is handmade by me in my home studio. I work with mostly designer surplus fabrics and offer small runs and limited editions for most designs. I predominantly work with natural fibers and use organic/ethically produced fabrics when possible.
