DESCRIPTION

Hardwick and Ćesko are excited to present the launch of their first furniture pieces, the Miss Cesko Doily Coffee and Side tables. These truly distinctive tables are manufactured using the highest quality of materials and are designed and made in Australia by David Hardwick, Head Designer at Hardwick & Ćesko.

The inspiration for these tables stemmed from a fascination with the intricate detail of crochet and more specifically doilies. These items hint at a pride in decoration and detail that has been somewhat lost in the minimal and sometimes stark interiors and furniture that have dominated the market in recent times. The design was intended to reflect this lost tradition within a contemporary context.

In the design of the tables, it became very important that not only the table-top could replicate the doily, but how the base and stem of the table could accentuate the form of the top without competing with it for attention. Hence the stem of the table is divided in the middle, tapering equally to the top and the bottom, as if the process of creation started at this central point. The strong, yet simple, circular form of the base providing the stability & support for the contrastingly intricate detail and soft lines of the patterned top.

Materials
The Coffee table top (pictured) is fashioned from American black walnut, from an FSC certified timber source. The attraction to the American Black walnut was the natural colour and grain pattern of the timber, which requires no staining to achieve the rich brown tones of the finished product once lacquered.

The bases are made out of high quality Australian steel with a white powder-coated finish.
